Parts of ISMIR open to the public!

Much of the work that will be presented at ISMIR originated from publicly funded research.

As ISMIR organizers, we therefore feel it is our duty to share our knowledge with the public as much as we can.

To this end, we are happy to offer the following free participation opportunities to the general public:

  • our three evening keynotes by Henkjan Honing, Georgina Born and Jeremy Pickens will be open to the public. All these keynotes will take place at the Auditorium of the TU Delft Aula Congress Center, Mekelweg 5, Delft.
    • The talk by Henkjan Honing takes place on Tuesday, November 5, from 17:30-18:30 h. Doors will open to the public at 17:00 h.
    • The talk by Georgina Born takes place on Wednesday, November 6, from 18:00-19:00 h. Doors will open to the public at 17:30 h.
    • The talk by Jeremy Pickens takes place on Thursday, November 7, from 18:00-19:00 h. Doors will open to the public at 17:00 h; at 17:30 h, there first will be a plenary Musical Intermezzo celebrating ISMIR's 20th anniversary in the Auditorium.

  • we have produced an outreach event, the Youth Music Challenge (link in Dutch), in which local middle and high school students were encouraged to propose 'the music service of the future'. On Tuesday, November 5 between 19:30-21:30 h, the students will present their works (in English) to the interested audience at the OPEN library, Vesteplein 100, Delft. Following these presentations, we will open a public exhibit at the OPEN library, that will showcase the students' ideas to the general public throughout the rest of the week.

  • on Friday, November 8 from 17:00-20:00 h, we will organize a Meetup with Industry, in which several of our industry sponsors will showcase their latest technologies (with particular focus on Music & AI) to the interested audience. This networking event will take place at Lijm & Cultuur, Rotterdamseweg 272, Delft. Access is free of charge, but please register, such that we can prepare for the catering!

As for the further scientific program of ISMIR:

  • The ISMIR Society releases all accepted peer-reviewed articles to its annual conferences under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This means that everyone can access all papers accepted to ISMIR 2019 (as well as those from past conferences) for free!
  • Each accepted regular ISMIR paper is accompanied by a research poster. During the conference, all these research posters will be exhibited during all times in the Vide and Commissiekamer 3 of the Aula Congress Center. As soon as our doors will be opened to the public for the November 5, 6 and 7 keynotes, feel free to take a look at these posters on your way to or from the Aula.
  • We will be recording all research talks at the conference through TU Delft's Collegerama service. Right after the conference, these talks will be made available online here.
